Coinbase and Apple enjoy an unsound relationship months after Coinbase warned customers its application might be removed in the Apple Store.
Brian Armstrong - Coinbase CEO - tweeted on Aug. 22 that Apple keeps blocking some features for crypto, covering the way to earn money and unrestricted decentralized applications, or DApps, browsers. He noted: "Apple has been very restrictive and hostile to cryptocurrency over the years. They're still blocking some functionality right now, including the ability to earn money with cryptocurrency by completing tasks, and unrestricted dapp browsers."
December saw Coinbase warned customers its application might be removed in the Apple Store due to Apple's policies. Meanwhile, Apple as well as Google Play- Google's Android app store - wanted to DApps in its network.
Apple - especially its Apple Store - has been recently criticized by the public in that it poses unfair terms to app developers and publishers. The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Epic Games - games developer - have appealed Apple to seek fair terms for developers.
