EDM star Deadmau5 has teamed up with digital artist Michah Dowbak (aka Mad Dog Jones), aiming to release two NFT art collections on the Winklevoss-owned Nifty Gateway today.
The artworks have already raised $338,000, while its final auction does not come to completion. Block Heater - a single edition NFT - now has a bid of $20,000 on it with roughly 19 hours remaining.
The NFTs refer to a combination of music from well-known multi-Grammy nominated Deadmau5 and artwork from Dowbak, whose previous NFT collection teaming up with DJ 3Lau sold out within seconds.
As a frequent collaborator with high-profile clients, Dowbak creates artwork for Run The Jewels, Jabbawockeez, Conor McGregor, Maroon 5, and Chromeo.
Last December saw Deadmau5 launched a 30-second audio-reactive artwork which sold for $49,277 and the Wax Exchange listed 6,000 NFT packs, with content from recent shows and video clips, worth nearly $100,000. It appears that the artist determined to help spread the word about NFT technology to his wide range of fans, covering 3.5 million followers on Twitter, 2.5 million on Instagram, and 1.7 million on YouTube.
In addition, this week witnessed Nifty Gateway welcome Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland who will auction his NFT collection on Jan. 19. Some high-value sales have been held on the NFT platform with one collection inspired by technology, nature and Star Wars selling for $3.5 million in December 2020.
