Devcon is one of the largest conferences for the Ethereum community and developers. Due to the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic, Devcon has been once again postponed.
As per Tuesday's announcement, the Ethereum Foundation decided to postpone the meeting in Bogota instead of continuing its previously announced August goal.
"We want to make sure we do this responsibly and that as many people as possible are able to make the trip from all around the world, which seems unlikely by early August," the blog post reads.
The Devcon team stated that it expects to announce a new date for the event soon:
"While nothing is guaranteed given the ongoing pandemic, we're hopeful that a new date announcement is possible soon with the availability of COVID-19 vaccines ramping up now, and updated pandemic-related trends improving."
The Ethereum Foundation added that the community still hopes to hold other Ethereum-themed events in the summer, including the EthCC event hosted by Ethereum France, which is now scheduled to be held in July. The foundation promised to provide more information, such as ticketing and speaker application as soon as it is able to issue date-related announcements.
Since the Ethereum Foundation postponed Devcon VI in May 2020, Devcon has been on hold. The last Devcon V conference was held in Osaka in October 2019. In 2018, 3,000 people from all over the world participated in the Devcon event.
